Karsachi Police has arrested Salman Farooqi, the main suspect involved in the violent assault of a citizen in Karachi’s upscale Defence area on Monday.

The incident occurred in Khayaban-e-Ittehad, where a man in a vehicle brutally attacked a motorcyclist, sparking widespread outrage. Acting swiftly, the police apprehended the primary accused Salman Farooqi, along with his driver and security guard. His vehicle was also taken into custody.

According to DIG South, an FIR has been registered at Gizri Police Station on the complaint of eyewitness Muhammad Aslam. The complaint names Farooqi as the prime suspect, accusing him of assaulting the victim with severe violence.

Initial investigations revealed that the accused is not affiliated with any government institution. Police teams also conducted raids at his office and residence overnight to ensure his arrest. Authorities are trying to contact the victim’s family to gather more information and proceed with the case. Police are interrogating the suspect to dig out the real cause of the incident.

DIG South assured that the matter is being dealt with utmost seriousness and that FIRs are being filed against all those involved in the assault. He emphasised that no influential individual will be considered above the law and justice will be served to the affected citizen.

SSP South confirmed that the attacker has been identified as Salman Farooqi, who, along with his security guard, physically assaulted the young man. “Farooqi and his guard took the law into their own hands, which is absolutely unacceptable,” he stated.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar also took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from SSP South. He stressed that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands and that strict legal action will be taken against all involved.

“The law is equal for everyone, and no influential person will be given any exemption,” Lanjar added, assuring transparent investigations to ensure justice for the victim.
