A violent altercation occurred at the Gorakhpur checkpoint between PTI leader Umar Ayub and the police. The police pushed Umar Ayub and other PTI leaders, physically assaulting PTI’s Chief Whip, Amir Dogar, with a baton and tearing his clothes.
Amir Dogar expressed outrage, calling it the pinnacle of police brutality and goonism. He added, “I am a Member of the National Assembly; look at what is happening. Our only ‘crime’ is that we are sitting near Adiala Jail.”
Police blockade and standoff at Gorakhpur Checkpoint
Earlier, the police had set up blockades on the roads leading to Adiala Jail, inspecting vehicles before allowing them to proceed.
Mubashira Sheikh, the daughter of Bushra Bibi, and her sister-in-law Mehr Nisa reached the Gorakhpur checkpoint, hoping for permission to proceed to the jail. Senator Ali Zafar and Advocate Naeem Haider Panhota also arrived outside Adiala Jail.
The spokesperson for Imran Khan, Niazullah Niazi, was stopped by the police at the Dahgal checkpoint. His sisters, Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, Azma Khanum, and cousin Qasim Khan were also stopped at the Gorakhpur checkpoint, as was Imran Khan’s lawyer, Salman Safdar.
PTI workers blocked the main highway, chanting slogans. Traffic on Adiala Road was severely disrupted, causing immense inconvenience to the public. At the Gorakhpur checkpoint, PTI workers tried to break through the police barricades, leading to a violent scuffle between workers and the police.
Police officers prevented workers from proceeding toward the jail, and Aleema Khan instructed the workers to march to the jail on foot. Additional police forces were called in, and Aleema Khan and other family members were caught up in the pushing and shoving.
Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja also arrived at the Gorakhpur checkpoint.
Escalating tensions and arrests

In a tense standoff, PTI workers advanced, but they were eventually stopped by a final barricade just before reaching the jail. The Anti-Riot Police were called in, and several arrests were made.
