‘Anora’ bags five Academy Awards

The 2025 Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles, highlighting a spectacular display of talent.

Anora emerged as the big winner of the night, taking home five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director for Sean Baker, and Best Actress for Mikey Madison.

The star-studded event was hosted by Conan O’Brien, who recognised the resilience of the city and paid tribute to its recovery from recent wildfires.

Adrien Brody made a triumphant return to Hollywood’s A-list, winning his second Best Actor Oscar for his compelling role as a Hungarian architect in The Brutalist.

Brody’s performance outshone notable contenders, including Timothée Chalamet in A Complete Unknown, Ralph Fiennes in Conclave, Sebastian Stan in The Apprentice, and Colman Domingo in Sing Sing.

In addition to Anora’s significant wins, other films like Conclave, The Brutalist, Wicked, and Emilia Pérez also received accolades, showcasing a diverse range of cinematic achievements.

The ceremony featured heartfelt performances and moments of reflection, celebrating the film community’s strength amid challenges.

The complete list of key winners includes Best Picture (Anora), Best Actor (Adrien Brody, The Brutalist), Best Actress (Mikey Madison, Anora), and Best Supporting Actor (Kieran Culkin, A Real Pain), among others, encapsulating a night of unforgettable recognition and celebration in the film industry.
