Recent claims circulating on social media suggested that India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar was asked to move to the back during Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony.

Jaishankar was in the first row at the ceremony but a viral video generated controversy, so much so that Indian media had to run a fact check.

A thorough investigation by India Today Fact Check has debunked the assertion that Indian foreign minister was asked to move back.

The inauguration, held on January 20, featured several prominent attendees, including Jaishankar, who was seated in the front row.

The viral video clip that sparked the rumor shows a woman approaching a cameraperson, not Jaishankar, asking her to move to the back to avoid obstructing the view, according to India Today.

After analyzing the full video of the ceremony, which is available on the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies’ YouTube channel, it was confirmed that Jaishankar remained in his front-row seat throughout the event.

The woman in the video was seen asking the cameraperson to relocate so she could get a better shot of the stage.

In conclusion, the claims that Jaishankar was asked to move are misleading, as he was not the subject of any such request.
