The ruling coalition challenged Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) Punjab Assembly member Sonia Ali’s vote over an alleged code of conduct breach during the presidential election.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Khalil Tahir Sandhu claimed that Ali showed her vote in violation of the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) code of conduct for the election.

Polling was underway in the Senate of Pakistan, the National Assembly and four provincial assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which have been declared as polling stations for the election that has PPP’s Asif Ali Zardari up against SIC-backed Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

Sandhu said that the ruling coalition has submitted a plea before the polling agent to cancel Ali’s vote.
