Fuel cost adjustments are passed on to consumers
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) gave K-Electric approval to increase the price of electricity by Rs5.28 per unit to adjust for fuel costs for April 2022.
As fuel prices fluctuate globally, power-generation companies need to recalibrate their prices and the extra costs are passed on to the customer.
In March, consumers were charged Rs4.83 per unit as a fuel-adjustment charge, which was only for one month.
April’s fuel cost adjustment will be charged at Rs0.45 more than that of March and It will also apply for a month.
