Police foiled a sabotage plan in Lando Ahmad Khel, within the limits of Saddar police station in Lakki Marwat, recovering and defusing 26 kilograms of explosives planted along a roadside, officials said.
Acting on information about explosives laid on a road, police, along with members of a local peace committee, carried out a joint operation and recovered the devices, police said.
The explosives had been planted on the main road leading to a village and were defused in time, preventing what officials said could have caused major destruction.
Police said the recovery thwarted a terrorist plan in the area.
Earlier, two people, including a child, were killed and 17 others injured in a bomb blast near the Miryan police station in Bannu, officials said.
According to police, the explosive device was planted on a motorcycle that was parked near the police station.
A heavy police contingent reached the scene after the explosion and shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Police have launched an investigation, cordoned off the blast site and tightened security arrangements.
Officials said the nature and motive of the attack will be determined after completing the ongoing investigations.
