Court takes notice as 6 policemen charged with custodial rape in Jacobabad

A complete inquiry was conducted into the case of the rape of a woman named Asia Khoso by police officers in Tehsil Thal of Jacobabad on the instructions of the IG Sindh, the Minister of Interior and DIG Larkana.

According to SSP Jacobabad Muhammad Kaleem Malik, after the investigation, it was proven that six police officers gang-raped the girl, Asia Khoso.

The police officers involved in the incident were arrested, and a case was registered against six police officers at the RD 44 police station on the request of the victim’s grandmother, Noor Khatoon.

The accused names include ASI Mehrab Sundarani, Head Constable Abdul Nabi Samat, and four constables, Ghulam Yasin Jakhrani, Khadim Hussain Jakhrani, Mir Hassan Bambal and Barkat Jakhrani.

According to sources, a week ago, a clash broke out between the Khoso and Tanori communities in the limits of Thal RD 44 over a black money case, in which a 50-year-old man, Alam Tanori, was killed while the accused fled.

The Tanori community registered a case against the Khoso community. The police arrested a youth, two girls and an old woman for failing to arrest the suspects in a murder case

They were kept in custody for 6 days, and a woman named Asia Khoso revealed that 6 police officers gang-raped her for six days during her detention.

The victim’s family and social organisations of Thal also protested the incident, and a petition was filed against the officials involved.

On the other hand, the District and Sessions Judge’s Court of Jacobabad, taking notice of the Khoso rape case, on Tuesday, ordered the SHO of Garhi Hassan police station and the victim, along with her parents, to be presented in court.
