Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman on Sunday expressed deep sorrow over the fire incident in Karachi’s Gul Plaza and said that he is deeply saddened by the loss of lives, and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman also expressed his regret over the death of the firefighter while putting out the fire.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman directed the Jamaat-e-Islami-affiliated Al-Khidmat Foundation to participate in relief activities.
The fire broke out in Karachi’s Gul Plaza shopping centre on Saturday night.
Despite the passage of more than 17 hours, the fire could not be brought under control.
Six people, including a firefighter, have died so far, while more than 30 people were injured, and several people, including women and children, are missing.
The ground and mezzanine floors have been completely gutted, and at least two parts of the building have collapsed.
