Pakistan, Russia renew push for deeper cooperation at SCO meetings

Pakistan and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to deeper cooperation at bilateral and multilateral forums, including the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.

The understanding was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk after the SCO Council of Heads of Government meetings in Moscow.

Both sides held a substantive review of the full range of Pakistan-Russia relations, with a focus on expanding cooperation in political, economic, energy, connectivity, agricultural, industrial, educational and people-to-people domains.

They agreed to advance this collaboration through existing institutional mechanisms.

Overchuk noted his recent visits to Pakistan and highlighted the country’s potential as a regional hub for transit and connectivity.

The two leaders also exchanged views on major regional and global developments.
