Govinda collapses at home, Dharmendra discharged from hospital

Bollywood veteran Govinda was admitted to a Mumbai hospital early Wednesday after collapsing at his residence, while fellow screen icon Dharmendra was discharged the same morning following treatment for a brief health issue.

Reports from Indian media said the 61-year-old actor lost consciousness at his Juhu home soon after midnight on Tuesday.

Family members took him to a nearby private hospital around 1am when his condition did not improve despite initial treatment at home.

Govinda’s lawyer, Lalit Bindal, stated that the actor had taken prescribed medication before feeling lightheaded and fainting.

He was kept under observation overnight, Bindal added.

His manager, Shashi Sinha, told ANI that doctors were assessing his reports and monitoring his progress.

She confirmed that Govinda was “stable and alert” and had been discharged later in the morning.

The episode came just a few days after Govinda visited Dharmendra, who had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to breathing problems.

Earlier this week, rumours falsely claiming Dharmendra’s death spread online, which his family promptly denied.

In a statement, they said the actor was released from the hospital at 7:30am on Wednesday and was now recuperating at home.

Dharmendra’s doctor informed PTI that he would continue his recovery under medical supervision at home.

His manager, Amit Tuli, urged fans and media to avoid speculation regarding the actor’s condition.

Known for his hit performances in Hero No. 1, Partner, and Raja Babu, Govinda was also hospitalised last year after accidentally injuring his knee with his licensed firearm.
