Federal cabinet meeting rescheduled for Thursday

The federal cabinet meeting scheduled for today (Wednesday) has been postponed and will now be held tomorrow (Thursday) under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, the cabinet will ratify the new amendments included in the 27th constitutional amendment bill.

The cabinet is expected to review the prevailing security situation, with major decisions likely to be taken, official sources said.

According to the sources, cabinet members have been directed to remain available for the session, though a formal agenda has not yet been shared with them.

The cabinet is expected to take significant measures related to the country’s security, while it will also hold discussions on other key matters.

The meeting has been called amid a surge in militant activity linked to terrorist groups based in Afghanistan.

On Tuesday, a suicide blast in Islamabad claimed 12 lives and left 36 others injured.

Tensions have also flared along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in recent weeks.
