The Pakistan-Afghanistan Torkham border has been partially reopened after a 20-day closure, officials confirmed on Saturday.

The crossing will remain open only for the repatriation of undocumented Afghan refugees, while all trade and regular cross-border movement will stay suspended.

According to Khyber Deputy Commissioner Bilal Shahid, the border was reopened to facilitate the deportation of illegal Afghan residents from Pakistan.

Hundreds of Afghan nationals are currently undergoing immigration processing at the Torkham centre, where officials are completing necessary documentation before allowing them to cross into Afghanistan.

“The border crossing will remain closed for trade and pedestrian movement until further orders,” Deputy Commissioner Shahid said.
