At least 17 India-backed Khwarij were killed in an intelligence-based operation by security forces in the Datta Khel area of Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces effectively targeted the militants’ hideout on the night between September 26 and 27.
According to sources, the area is located on the border of Karak and Lakki Marwat, where intelligence reports were received about the presence of Khwarij linked to the Mullah Nazir group.
The operation resulted in the recovery of weapons and ammunition from the slain militants.
The ISPR said the slain militants, who belong to Fitna Al Khwarij, were involved in terrorist activities against security forces and law enforcement agencies.
They were also involved in the killing of innocent civilians.
Reports suggested that 7 to 10 terrorists were seriously injured in the operation against Fitna Al Khwarij..The ISPR added that a clearance operation is ongoing to eliminate any other India-backed terrorists.
“Pakistan Army is determined to uproot the scourge of India-sponsored terrorism from the country,” it said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday appreciated the security forces for eliminating 17 Khwarij in District Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The prime minister prayed for the swift recovery of personnel injured during the security operation, the media wing of the PM Office said in a statement.
The prime minister, who is in the US where he attended the UN General Assembly session, said that due to the professionalism and timely action of the security forces, the nefarious designs of the terrorists were thwarted.
The government and the security forces were fully committed to eradicating terrorism, he said, adding they would soon uproot the menace of terrorism completely.
