Karachi’s long-standing water supply challenge is expected to ease as the new Hub Canal has been completed, ending a 24-year wait for a major water project.
Saadia Javed, spokesperson for the Sindh government, confirmed the completion and shared details about the project.
The 22.4-kilometre canal was constructed in just nine months and is expected to supply 100 million gallons of water to Karachi daily.
The project came at a cost of approximately Rs1.25 billion.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, is scheduled to inaugurate the canal on Wednesday.
