In a landmark move, the Balochistan government on Tuesday presented the province’s first-ever Rs1,028 billion surplus budget.
Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani unveiled the budget during a Balochistan Assembly session chaired by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai.
Highlighting fiscal discipline, Nosherwani said the government utilized 100% of its allocated funds and achieved Rs14 billion in savings through strict austerity measures.

He also announced the elimination of 6,000 non-essential positions, emphasizing efficiency and responsible governance.
“This budget is a testament to our commitment to transparency, development, and public welfare,” said Nosherwani.
He vowed that the government would continue efforts to provide relief to the people and create job opportunities for youth, noting that Balochistan is rich in untapped resources.

The Balochistan government has allocated Rs83.7 billion for non-development expenditures to maintain law and order, along with Rs3 billion for development initiatives in the security sector.
The finance minister announced that a new “People’s Train Service” will be launched in collaboration with Pakistan Railways.
The service will initially run between Quetta, Saryab, and Kuchlak.
As part of the project, five existing railway stations will be upgraded, while two new stations will be constructed to enhance connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
Nosherwani claimed that the provincial government had made significant achievements in a short period and would continue prioritizing the development of rural areas and service delivery across sectors.
