A senior police officer was gunned down in a targeted attack by unidentified assailants in Sindh’s city of Larkana on Monday.

Station House Officer (SHO) Nazir Chandio was martyred in the attack carried out by motorcycle-riding assailants at the SSP Chowk. The attackers fled the scene after the targeted killing.

Sources said that armed motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on a vehicle at SSP Chowk, fatally wounding SHO Nazir Chandio of Mirpur Buriro Police Station, Jacobabad.

The incident occurred as he was visiting the forensic laboratory in Larkana to submit case property.

Following the attack, police cordoned off the area and launched a manhunt to track down the assailants and initiated an investigation.
