Lahore authorities dismiss viral claim about security alert as fake

A widely circulated security advisory warning of a serious incident near Wahga Border has been officially declared fake by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore’s office.

Authorities confirmed that no security incident has occurred in or around the area and reassured citizens that there is no cause for concern.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the DC office stated, “This advisory is fake. Citizens are urged not to believe in rumors.” Officials emphasized that public safety is the administration’s top priority and assured that any real emergency would be promptly communicated through verified channels.

The fabricated advisory, allegedly signed by DC Lahore Syed Musa, falsely claimed that a violent security incident had resulted in multiple casualties near Wahga.

It further stated that the military had taken control of nearby routes, including Burki, Bedian, and BRB Canal, and directed residents to evacuate.

According to the false message, residents of DHA Phase 8, Askari 11, Paragon City, and Green City were advised to immediately vacate their homes, bringing ID cards, essential medicines, and emergency supplies.

Officials have urged the public to rely solely on credible and official sources for information and avoid spreading misinformation that could lead to unnecessary panic.
