The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall in Karachi starting from the evening of May 5, bringing welcome relief for the city’s residents amid rising temperatures.

The Met Office said on Saturday that a rain-bearing weather system is expected to enter Sindh from May 5, gaining strength through moisture coming in from the Arabian Sea. As a result, Karachi may experience rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning by the evening.

The rainfall is predicted to continue for one to two days. Meteorologists say this system will have a significant impact across Sindh, with Karachi among the cities likely to receive showers.

The development comes as summer intensifies in southern Pakistan, making the prospect of rain a welcome change for citizens battling heat and humidity.
