Punjab launches electric bus network with 1,500 vehicles across major cities

The Punjab government has approved a large-scale electric bus network, set to roll out 1,500 vehicles across key cities in the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif gave the green light to the initiative aimed at transforming public transport infrastructure.

The first phase of the project will see 380 electric buses deployed in Lahore and Gujranwala, with operations expected to begin by June.

Future phases will expand services to cities including Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujrat, Rahim Yar Khan, and Dera Ghazi Khan.

The project also includes the construction of a state-of-the-art Transport Tower Command and Control Center in Lahore to manage operations efficiently.
