Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a reduction in electricity prices, stated that providing relief to the public is the government’s top priority.
He also acknowledged the key role played by Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir in this process. The Army Chief provided full cooperation for the country’s economic development.
Speaking at the event in Islamabad on the reduction of electricity prices, Prime Minister said that today, the price of electricity for domestic consumers is Rs45.05 per unit, but after the reduction, it will be Rs34.37 per unit.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that the Army Chief’s cooperation was crucial for both the government and the public. He stated that, with the sacrifices of the nation and the help of Allah, Pakistan has made significant progress towards economic stability and has succeeded in bringing inflation down to single digits.
The Prime Minister further said, “I openly acknowledge the fact that, in this entire process, my team and I received full cooperation from Army Chief General Syed Muhammad Asim Munir and his colleagues, and they played a key role.”
The Prime Minister said that the efforts of each individual in this regard have been accepted by God Almighty, and today, we stand at a point of economic stability where we may have to work harder than before, and the journey may be even more challenging.
The nation has made many sacrifices, and there was a time when pensioners, after paying their electricity bills, did not know where to get money for their children’s medicine. It was a time when, after paying the electricity bill, one would be left in helplessness at home.
He further stated that shopkeepers, investors, and industrialists were being forced to shut down their businesses because they couldn’t sell such expensive goods, and the chimneys of factories had stopped emitting smoke.
The Prime Minister added that, thanks to Allah’s grace, the prayers of the nation, and the efforts of the government, inflation has now come down to single digits, from 38% to 1.5%. The interest rate, which was 22.5%, has now been reduced to 12%. The price of petrol has been reduced by up to 38 rupees, and even today, the price of petrol in Pakistan is lower than in the rest of the region.
