The Sindh High Court has ordered the police to present the Mustafa murder case’s prime suspect, Armagan, in the court on Tuesday (tomorrow).
The SHC heard a plea regarding the trial court’s decision not to grant a physical remand for the accused.
Acting Prosecutor General of Sindh Muntazir Mehdi, along with the investigative officer of the case and other officers, appeared in court. The additional prosecutor general stated that a case of Amir’s abduction was registered at the Darakhshan Police Station, and a ransom call of Rs20 million had been received.
The investigation was transferred to the AVCC after that, he said and added that a raid was conducted at a bungalow in Defence based on suspicious information from the police. Two police officers were injured in the exchange of fire with the suspect.
On February 10, the police filed a request for Armagan’s physical remand, which the trial court rejected. The court asked for the court’s order to be read aloud. The government lawyer argued that the remand request was rejected “without any valid reason.”
The court stated that the presiding judge had not read the remand report and asked whether police officers had been injured. The government lawyer mentioned that after February 10, a second request for Armagan’s physical remand was filed on February 11.
The acting prosecutor general stated that the trial court “had not even provided a certified copy” of the remand order.
On the February 11 remand, the trial court ordered the formation of a Joint Investigation Team, which had not been requested.
The acting prosecutor general suggested that the powers of the administrator judge be transferred to another judge.
