Sindh government announces school holiday on February 14

The Sindh government has announced a holiday for schools across the province on February 14 on account of Shab-e-Barat.

“In pursuance of the decision taken in the sub-committee meeting of Steering Committee on Education, held on 28th [of] November 2024, all public and private education institutions under the administrative control of School, Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh shall remain closed on Friday, 14th [of] February 2025 on account of Shab-e-Barat 15th [of] Shaban-1466,” said the notification issued on Thursday.

Shab-e-Barat is a significant occasion for Muslims, marked by its emphasis on forgiveness and blessings. Many individuals engage in special prayers, seek forgiveness, and visit graves to honour their deceased loved ones.

Communities come together to observe the important night, highlighting its role in fostering a sense of unity and remembrance.
