Security tightened in Karachi, other cities; major roads sealed
Security has been tightened in Karachi on Monday amid the prevailing law and order situation, with authorities sealing major roads, placing containers and issuing traffic advisories for commuters.
According to the Traffic Police Karachi, several key routes have been closed across the city.
The PIDC–MT Khan Bridge has been shut, while PIDC Road from MT Khan Road has also been closed for traffic.
Containers have been placed on MT Khan Road in the Sultanabad area.
The Mai Kolachi Road Railway Gate has been closed for general traffic, and the Mai Kolachi Bypass from Boat Basin has also been sealed.
Earlier, traffic police had said water tankers were parked at the FTC location on Sharea Faisal and routes were being restricted as part of security measures.
Traffic remains closed from MT Khan Road to PIDC Road and from Mai Kolachi Road to Railway Gate.
Commuters travelling from Boat Basin to Jinnah Bridge have been advised to use Teen Talwar, Clifton Bridge, Metropole and Fawara Chowk.
Those heading from ICI Chowk to Maripur Road and Boat Basin can use Jinnah Bridge and II Chandrigar Road as alternative routes.
Passengers moving from PIDC signal to Sharea Faisal can access Jinnah Bridge via Shaheen Complex and II Chandrigar Road.
Traffic police have advised citizens to use alternative routes until further notice, adding that traffic flow at Numaish Chowrangi remains normal, though security measures are in place.
Islamabad Red Zone traffic advisory
In Islamabad, only Margalla Road and Marriott Hotel routes will remain open for entry into the Red Zone, while all other entry points will stay closed.
People coming from Club Road have been advised to use Seventh Avenue and Margalla Road, while those travelling from Bhara Kahu should take Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue and Margalla Road via Kashmir Chowk.
Road closures in Lahore
In Lahore, several roads leading to the American Consulate have been closed amid possible protests.
Barricades have been placed around Shimla Hill, with law enforcement personnel deployed as a precautionary measure.
