Sindh CM inaugurates ICU at Kidney Centre, announces funds for Cath Lab
The Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, on Friday inaugurated a modern intensive care unit (ICU) at The Kidney Centre and announced an increase in financial assistance for the establishment of a cardiac catheterisation laboratory (Cath Lab) at the facility.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shah said the Sindh government was providing grants worth more than Rs 100 billion to the health sector and appreciated the hospital’s 41 years of uninterrupted services, praising the welfare spirit associated with it.
He recalled that the Kidney Centre had also received support in the past from Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari.
Addressing political matters, Sindh CM said the Prime Minister was not consulted regarding the change of governor and that his concerns had been conveyed. Commenting on recent political developments, he said the United National Movement could do whatever it wanted, but the remarks made at a recent meeting were unacceptable.
The chief minister also accused some journalists and television channels of spreading unverified and misleading information.
On law and order, he said violence against women in Umerkot was unacceptable, and that action would be taken against officials involved.
He added that an attempted attack from Afghanistan under the cover of darkness had been effectively thwarted, referring to the regional security situation.
Provincial Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, senior health department officials and members of the hospital administration were present at the ceremony.
