Tremors of magnitude 6.3 rattle Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

An earthquake of 6.3 magnitude shook Islamabad and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday, causing panic among residents who rushed out of homes, offices and commercial centres, authorities said.

The Seismological Centre reported the earthquake measured 6.3 on the Richter scale.

Tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Bajaur, Swabi, Mansehra, Mardan, Charsadda, Dir, Karak, and parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to initial reports, the earthquake lasted only a few seconds. Residents evacuated buildings.

No casualties or damage have been reported so far. Authorities have begun monitoring the situation and collecting information.

Citizens have been advised to exercise caution and contact relevant agencies in case of emergencies.
