Doctors complete medical examination of Imran Khan at Adiala Jail
A team of doctors completed a medical examination of former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, officials and sources said on Sunday.
An ambulance from Holy Family Hospital had arrived at the jail earlier and entered through gate number five, carrying medicines, medical equipment, and specialised machines, particularly for eye examinations, sources said.
The five-member team, which included Dr Amjad, Dr Nadeem Qureshi, Dr Afaq, Dr Sikandar, and Dr Arif, conducted a detailed examination of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder for about an hour, sources added. A technician accompanied the team.
The examination included eye checks, blood sampling, and various other tests. Preliminary medical records, including blood pressure, pulse rate, body temperature, blood sugar levels, and his current eye condition, have been documented and sent to the Punjab government.
Jail medical staff continue to conduct daily check-ups of Khan and maintain regular records, sources said. In view of the sensitivity of the matter, the federal government had constituted a special medical panel to examine Khan in jail and submit recommendations.
The government has said a decision on whether to shift Khan to a hospital for further treatment will be made based on the medical board’s report. PTI officials have expressed concern over Khan’s health, calling for transparency in all stages of his treatment.
Authorities said arrangements for the medical examination inside the jail have been completed, and they are awaiting the submission of the doctors’ full report.
