Pakistan, Turkiye to boost agricultural and livestock cooperation
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that Pakistan wanted to further strengthen its “exemplary brotherly relations” with Turkiye and boost bilateral economic cooperation, particularly in agriculture and livestock.
PM made the remarks during a meeting with a four-member delegation of Turkiye’s Agricultural Technologies Cluster (TUME), led by its Board Chairman Abdulkadir Karagöz, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Welcoming the delegation, the PM said there were vast opportunities to expand cooperation with Turkiye in the agriculture and livestock sectors.
He said Pakistan was committed to modernising its agriculture sector in line with global advancements by adopting innovative technologies similar to those used in Turkiye’s agricultural commodities and livestock industries.
“Allah Almighty has blessed Pakistan with abundant resources in the agriculture sector. We are striving to fully harness this potential through the use of modern technology and comprehensive planning,” PM said.
He emphasised the importance of enhanced bilateral cooperation to benefit from modern agricultural technologies and expertise, adding that Pakistan and Turkiye could jointly play an important role in the global food value chain.
During the meeting, TUME Board Chairman briefed the prime minister on the use of advanced technologies to improve productivity within his organisation and expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Pakistan in agriculture and livestock.
TUME Board Chairman said the close ties between the leadership of the two countries served as a guiding force for stronger collaboration between their business communities.
The meeting was attended by Turkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Irfan Neziroglu, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, and other senior officials.
