Narcotics worth $66m seized in major anti-drug operation
The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) recovered 1.2 tonnes of narcotics worth millions of US dollars in a major operation in Balochistan’s Gwadar city.
At least two alleged smugglers have also been arrested, sources said on Wednesday.
The sources said a truck carrying the drugs was stopped on the Panjgur-Turbat National Highway, and the contraband was recovered from the truck’s hidden compartments.
The seized 1.2 tonnes of hashish have an estimated international market value of $66.15 million.
The arrested suspects reportedly confessed that the drugs had been smuggled from Afghanistan.
The suspects were said to have been transporting narcotics from Gwadar via boats to Gulf countries, Yemen, and Tanzania.
A case has been registered against the arrested smugglers, and raids are ongoing to apprehend other members of the smuggling network.
