Taylor Swift’s Olympic message divides fans
Taylor Swift faced mixed reactions after posting a motivational message for athletes ahead of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.
The 45-second video, shared on social media as the Games began on February 6, saw the singer thanking athletes for their dedication, hard work, and sacrifices.
In the clip, Swift said, “I just wanted to say thank you… I hope that you have a wonderful Olympic Games and a safe journey, and that this is an experience you will cherish for the rest of your life.”
While many fans praised the 14-time Grammy winner for her thoughtful words, others criticised her for remaining silent on political unrest and major global issues.
Some viewers also accused her of making the event about herself rather than the athletes.
Comments on social media ranged from disappointment to sarcasm. One user wrote, “She will speak out for a sport but not for peace within the country she resides,” while another added, “Cool but maybe use your platform to help support communities being attacked…?”
