Faysal Bank Limited (FBL) on Sunday reaffirmed its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion by sponsoring the second Faysal Bank Special Olympics Pakistan (SOP) Unified Marathon, an annual event promoting equality and community participation.

Held at Prism Block A, DHA Phase 9, the marathon drew a strong turnout of athletes, volunteers and citizens, who ran, walked and used wheelchairs together to highlight inclusion and break social barriers. The one-kilometre unified run, walk, and wheelchair segment was inaugurated by Faysal Bank President and CEO Yousaf Hussain and Special Olympics Pakistan Founder and Chairperson Ronak Lakhani.

Speaking at the event, Hussain said the bank was proud to continue its long-standing partnership with Special Olympics Pakistan, which began in Karachi and has now expanded to Lahore.

“This initiative reflects our shared vision of an inclusive society where every individual is respected and valued,” he said, adding that care was a core Islamic value guiding the bank’s support for community-focused causes.

Lakhani said the unified marathon had grown beyond a sporting event into a broader movement advocating dignity, respect and opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities.

“The overwhelming participation from athletes, corporates and the public shows Pakistan is moving towards a future where everyone belongs,” she said, thanking Faysal Bank for its consistent support.

Faysal Bank said its continued collaboration with Special Olympics Pakistan underscores its focus on advancing inclusion and care, with initiatives aimed at fostering empathy, acceptance and social cohesion across the country.
