Sindh to launch anti-polio campaign from 2nd Feb
The Sindh government will launch an anti-polio vaccination campaign from 2nd Feb to 8th Feb, aiming to administer polio drops to 1.5 crore children, officials said.
The campaign plan was finalised at a meeting of the Polio Task Force, chaired by the Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah.
CM said eradicating polio is a national duty and that the virus can be defeated by increasing children’s immunity.
He stressed that parents, society, the media, and the government must work together to achieve success in eradicating polio. Authorities reported zero polio cases in Pakistan so far this year.
Media houses have been requested to begin their bulletins with awareness messages against polio.
Environmental samples collected from all divisions of the province showed that 11 out of 29 sites tested positive for the virus, raising concern for the chief minister.
More than 80,000 polio workers will take part in the campaign, supported by 21,000 police and rangers personnel to ensure security.
