Bangladesh T20 World Cup Exit | ICC Decision Accepted | Scotland Included

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formally accepted the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) decision to replace the Bangladesh team with Scotland for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka.

The BCB’s response comes after the ICC confirmed that the decision to exclude Bangladesh from the tournament is final and that no changes would be made.

Commenting on the situation that unfolded on Saturday, the BCB stated that it respects the ICC’s final decision and will not challenge it, even though its own requests regarding venue changes were not accommodated.

The ICC neither agreed to move Bangladesh’s matches to a different location nor to alter the group schedule.

As a result, the BCB had no choice but to accept the decision.

Amjad Hossain, chairman of the BCB Media Committee, said that the board had explored all possible options before reaching this stage.

“We did everything we could,” Hossain said. “We fully respect the ICC board’s decision. The majority opinion was that the matches could not be relocated. Even after that, we continued to make requests, but since the ICC was unwilling to act, there is nothing left for us to do.”
