Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held talks with US Charge de’ Affaires Natalie Baker on strengthening bilateral cooperation, with a focus on tackling illegal immigration and improving law-enforcement coordination.

According to the Interior Ministry, the two sides discussed measures to curb illegal migration and enhance the pre-immigration clearance system. They also agreed to expand cooperation in police and law-enforcement training.

A key outcome of the meeting was a decision to launch joint operations under standard operating procedures against networks involved in fake and fraudulent visa activities.

Naqvi said the government had adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward agent mafias and facilitators of illegal migration, and welcomed US support in the effort.

“I am personally monitoring the action against fake visa networks,” Naqvi said, adding that Pakistan’s passport system has been strengthened through modern technology.

He described illegal immigration as a serious challenge and said a sustained crackdown was under way against those attempting to reach the United States through unlawful means.

Naqvi said government measures had led to a 47% reduction in illegal immigration, stressing that those producing or facilitating fake documents would face strict action.

Ambassador Baker reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to ties with Pakistan, saying the two countries shared common priorities.

“We attach special importance to our relationship with Pakistan,” she said.

“Expanding cooperation will further strengthen our partnership.”
