Pakistan oncology society opens Karachi ONCO 2026, spotlighting AI and precision care
The Pakistan Society of Clinical Oncology (PSCO), in collaboration with the SAARC Federation of Oncologists, has opened Karachi ONCO 2026, the 27th Annual Cancer Congress, being held from January 23 to 25.
The three-day scientific meeting brings together oncologists, researchers and healthcare professionals from Pakistan and abroad under the theme “Stronger alliance — cancer defiance,” underscoring collaboration in advancing cancer care.
The congress features a wide-ranging programme on emerging trends shaping modern oncology.
A key focus is the growing role of artificial intelligence, with expert-led sessions examining its impact on cancer research, diagnostics, treatment planning and clinical decision-making, alongside discussions on ethical and responsible use.
Other core areas include immunotherapy, molecular profiling and next-generation sequencing, and precision radiotherapy, including stereotactic radiosurgery.
Case-based sessions highlight real-world application of personalised and targeted therapies to improve safety and outcomes.
Addressing the opening session, PSCO President and ONCO 2026 Chair Dr Azhar Rashid said the congress reflected an evolving oncology landscape where innovation and compassion must advance together.
He said stronger alliances across disciplines and borders were essential to achieve sustainable gains in patient care.
Beyond clinical science, the programme addresses the human dimensions of oncology.
Sessions on emotional intelligence focus on the psychological challenges faced by oncologists, while the Women for Oncology platform highlights early diagnosis, tailored treatment, survivorship and counselling for women with cancer.
The agenda also includes discussions under the theme “Healing the healers,” emphasising physician wellbeing and support for oncology professionals working in high-stress environments.
Organisers said Karachi ONCO 2026 aims to serve as a forum for scientific exchange and professional unity, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration and confronting cancer collectively.
