Residents of Karachi are being warned of a significant drop in temperatures starting January 4, as Siberian winds are expected to sweep into the city, the Meteorological Department said on Wednesday.

Deputy Director Anjum Nazeer stated that western winds moving eastward will bring the effects of Siberian air, leading to a sharp increase in cold.

Temperatures in the coming days could fall to single digits, he added.

Karachi experienced rainfall last night, with the heaviest recorded at 6 mm in Keamari.

The rain spell is over, though drizzle may occur in a few areas this evening.

The Meteorological Department has advised residents to prepare for colder conditions and take necessary precautions as the Siberian winds intensify.
