Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi underwent successful gallbladder surgery at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) on Tuesday, his lawyer said.

Advocate Rana Mudassar Umar said doctors removed Qureshi’s gallbladder and the procedure was completed without complications.

He said the former foreign minister will remain under medical observation for the next few days.

Qureshi has appealed to the public for prayers for his early recovery.

The PTI leader is currently jailed in Kot Lakhpat in connection with the May 9 trial. He was moved to PKLI from prison for the surgery.
