High-speed car kills one woman, injures another riding scooty on Karachi Super Highway

Two cousins fell from a bridge after being hit, as Karachi’s traffic accidents continue to claim lives

Traffic accidents in Karachi continue to take lives, with two separate incidents on Monday leaving three dead and others injured.

Near Damba Goth on the Super Highway, a speeding car struck two women riding a scooty, causing them to fall from a bridge.

One woman, identified as Samra, died on the spot, while her cousin Rabia sustained serious injuries.

Both women were employed as teachers at a coaching centre in Bahadurabad. The injured woman was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Police quickly reached the scene, arrested the car driver, and seized the vehicle. Authorities said the driver, who runs a construction business, possessed a valid licence.

In a separate incident near the Punjab Bus Stop on the Super Highway, a speeding water tanker ran over two motorbike riders.

One man died, and another was injured. Police took control of the tanker, but the driver fled the scene.

According to records maintained by the Chhipa Foundation, more than 750 people have died in traffic accidents across Karachi so far this year, highlighting the city’s growing road safety crisis.
