KP govt announces inquiry commission for May 9 Radio Pakistan attack
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Friday announced the formation of an inquiry commission to investigate the May 9 attack on Radio Pakistan.
Speaking at a provincial cabinet meeting, he said the commission would collect all evidence, including CCTV footage, and submit its report to the cabinet.
Addressing the cabinet, Afridi emphasised that political differences aside, peace remains a common goal for all.
He pledged full implementation of all provincial assembly resolutions, highlighting one on the elimination of “action in aid of civil powers,” which he described as contrary to fundamental human rights.
“Any law that goes against public interest will be repealed,” he said.
CM Afridi outlined his government’s policy guidelines, including introducing Islamic investment in the province and implementing a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
He also stated that no government funds would be used for personal publicity.
The CM expressed gratitude to all parties that participated in the recent “Peace Jirga” and reaffirmed his commitment to taking lessons from these consultations.
He said he intended to meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, alleging they were facing unfair treatment and restrictions on visitation.
He stressed that all laws would be reviewed to ensure they serve public interest and reiterated that the province would be freed from exploitative interest-based practices.
“Peace is our shared objective, and governance must reflect the rights and welfare of the people,” Afridi said.
