Maryam Nawaz, Jacinda Ardern inaugurate Pakistan Pavilion at COP30 in Brazil
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and former prime minister of New Zealand Dame Jacinda Ardern jointly inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion on the sidelines of the COP30 Climate Conference in Brazil.
Jacinda Ardern, who is attending the summit as Special Representative for Pacific Nations, toured the pavilion and watched a documentary showcasing the Punjab government’s pollution control and environmental protection measures.
Ardern praised Punjab’s eco-friendly initiatives and the province’s efforts to curb environmental degradation.
“You have taken bold and commendable steps for environmental progress in a short span of time,” she remarked during her conversation with the chief minister.
CM Maryam briefed Ardern on her government’s strategic approach to tackling climate challenges, emphasising sustainable growth, clean energy, and green urban policies.
She also paid tribute to Ardern for her dedicated public service during her tenure as New Zealand’s prime minister.
Senior Provincial Minister Mariam Aurangzeb, along with Provincial Ministers Rana Sikandar and Zeeshan Rafiq, accompanied the chief minister at the event.
