Winter has officially arrived across Pakistan as rain and snowfall lashed the country’s northern and upper regions, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures.

Heavy rain and snowfall turned the scenic valleys of Kaghan, Naran, Kalam, and Mahodand white, while Malam Jabba and Mingora experienced continuous downpours.

The sudden change in weather prompted residents to take out their warm clothes.

In Lower Dir’s Talash area, a tragic incident occurred when a tree fell on a passenger coach due to heavy rain, killing one person and injuring two others. Authorities later cleared the road for traffic.

The picturesque valley of Kumrat in Upper Dir also witnessed snowfall, further enhancing its natural beauty, while in Abbottabad and the surrounding areas, rain, hail, and gusty winds intensified the cold.

Snowfall was also reported from Gilgit-Baltistan’s Khunjerab Top, Ghizer, Astore, Hunza, and Naltar.

In Azad Kashmir, snowfall began on higher peaks following rainfall in Muzaffarabad and adjoining areas.

Meanwhile, intermittent rain continued in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Punjab, including Kasur, Taxila, and Wah Cantt, disrupting electricity in several areas.

In Murree, icy winds swept through the hill station as dark clouds enveloped the valley, marking the full onset of winter in the country.
