Cricket returns to Faisalabad: Shaheen to lead Pakistan in first ODI against South Africa
Pakistan is all set to face South Africa tomorrow (Tuesday) in the first match of the three-match ODI series, as international cricket is returning to Faisalabad after 17 years.
All the matches of the series will be played at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, from November 4 to 8.
The last international match at the Iqbal Stadium was played on 11 April 2008, when Pakistan defeated Bangladesh in an ODI by seven wickets.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, newly-appointed captain of the Pakistan one-day team, replacing Mohammad Rizwan, said, “It is exciting to see international cricket return to Faisalabad after 17 years. We are looking forward to performing well against South Africa. The team played good cricket in the T20I series, and we aim to carry that momentum into the ODIs.”
Under the captaincy of Agha Salman, Pakistan have defeated the visitors in the three-match T20 series 2-1 in Lahore.
