Three policemen, including a Station House Officer (SHO), were injured after their convoy was targeted in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in the Doaba area of Hangu on Saturday, officials said.
According to police sources, the convoy was attacked with a roadside IED as it was returning from a meeting of the peace committee.
District Police Officer (DPO) Hangu Khan Zeb Khan stated that an important meeting between police officials and the peace committee had been held earlier at Karbogha Sharif in the jurisdiction of Doaba Police Station.
The meeting was attended by SP Investigation Abdul Samad Khan, DSP Mujahid Hussain, and other officers.
As the convoy was returning from the meeting, militants detonated a remote-controlled explosive device planted along the roadside, targeting the police vehicles.

Following the attack, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. A gun battle between police and the attackers was also reported.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi took strict notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Inspector General of Police.
