Two most-wanted SRA terrorists arrested in Karachi raid
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and intelligence agencies arrested two most-wanted terrorists linked to the banned outfit SRA during a joint operation in Karachi’s Machhar Colony area, officials said on Saturday.
According to SSP CTD Irfan Bahadur, the raid was conducted on a tip-off in the Docks area, where the suspects were taken into custody. They were identified as Sarmad Ali Raza and Ghaniullah alias Ghani Aman Chandio.
CTD officials said the arrested men belong to a high-profile SRA network involved in terrorism and anti-state activities. Explosives and hand grenades were recovered from their possession.
The suspects were allegedly planning to target law enforcement agencies and were also engaged in recruiting students for the banned SRA while promoting extremist ideology, the officials added.
Both suspects are wanted in multiple cases registered at various police stations, including charges of terrorism, possession of explosives, and armed attacks.
Authorities said that further interrogations are underway, and important revelations are expected as the investigation progresses.
The arrested men have been handed over to the relevant CTD investigation unit for further questioning.
