Major shake-up in Foreign Office and diplomatic missions
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a major reshuffle involving key diplomatic and administrative appointments, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Pakistan’s newly appointed ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Shafqat Ali Khan, has reached Abu Dhabi to assume his duties, while Faisal Tirmizi, the new ambassador to Russia, has formally taken charge in Moscow.
Former ambassador to Russia Khalid Khan Jamali has been appointed Additional Foreign Secretary (Administration) at the Foreign Office.
Meanwhile, Zahid Hussain has been designated as Director General Middle East, replacing Ambassador Altamash Wazir Khan, who previously served in Kyrgyzstan.
Former ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Hassan Zaegham has been appointed Director General Central Asia, while Bilal Chaudhry has been assigned the position of Director General South Asia, succeeding Ambassador Ilyas Nizami, who has been nominated as Pakistan’s envoy to Romania.
