Robert Englund, the guy behind Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street TV series, just got his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Fittingly, the whole thing went down on Halloween, so you can imagine the crowd packed with Freddy fans, all cheering him on.

Englund really leaned into it. He posed next to his brand-new star, smoke swirling around him, flashing that iconic clawed glove. It was classic Freddy, right there on the sidewalk.

When he hit the stage, the crowd started chanting, “Freddy!” He wrapped up his speech with a thank you to everyone who helped him get there.

Heather Langenkamp, who starred with him in A Nightmare on Elm Street, spoke from the stage and later told PEOPLE magazine just how much work went into creating Freddy’s look.

“The special effects makeup he wore took months to prepare,” she said. “They spent weeks working on that costume, getting every detail right to bring Freddy Krueger to life.”

She glanced at the star and added, “When I see this five-pointed star with Robert’s name on it, I think of the five fingers on that oily, disgusting glove he wore.”

Langenkamp also talked about Englund’s voice. “It was gravelly. It mocked you. Sometimes there was even a bit of spit. It was so intense it could make your teeth clench.”

Then she summed it up: “As soon as Robert did Freddy’s voice and flashed that wild grin, he became the most terrifying thing you could imagine.”
