FIA arrests missing NCCIA deputy director Usman over corruption charges
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested Deputy Director Muhammad Usman of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), who was earlier reported missing from Islamabad, on charges of corruption and abuse of authority, official sources said on Thursday.
Following his arrest, the FIA presented Usman before a court and sought a 14-day physical remand to complete the investigation. However, the court approved a three-day physical remand instead.
According to the FIA, the accused is alleged to have misused his official position and collected monthly bribes from various call centres in exchange for favours and protection.
The agency has initiated further investigations to identify other individuals or entities involved in the alleged corruption network.
Usman was nominated in the case registered on Monday by Aroob Jatoi, the wife of YouTuber Saadur Rehman alias Ducky Bhai, who was arrested in a case about promoting gambling apps on social media.
Apart from Usman, six NCCIA officials from Lahore and Islamabad, NCCIA Deputy Director Ayaz Khan and Inspector Salman Aziz were also nominated in the case.
