Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Sohail Afridi and several senior PTI leaders were denied permission to meet the party’s founder, Imran Khan, at Adiala Jail on Thursday, despite being on the official visitors’ list and having directives from the Islamabad High Court.

According to sources, all visitors, including Sohail Afridi, Salman Akram Raja, Shaukat Basra, and Fatahullah Burki, were stopped by police at the Dahgal checkpoint, where strict security measures were in place.

After waiting for hours, the delegation was informed that the meeting time had expired, and they were turned back without being allowed entry.

It was the fourth time the KP chief minister had travelled to Adiala Jail, but was unable to meet the incarcerated PTI founder.

Speaking to reporters at the Dahgal checkpoint, CM Afridi said court directives permitting the meeting were being ignored by the federal authorities.

“We wrote to the federal government and filed a petition in court. The court allowed us to meet, yet we were stopped again,” CM Afridi said.

“If someone believes they are above the law, we will have to reconsider our next steps. There are no internal differences in KP; we are fully united and want to be part of the national policy process.”

PTI leader and lawyer Salman Akram Raja, who was also denied entry, said the authorities were depriving the party founder of his basic legal rights.

“Today, once again, we are standing just a kilometre away from Adiala Jail. The KP chief minister has been here four times,” he said.

“Our constitutional and legal right to meet our leader is being violated. This country was not created to be ruled by oppression, and we will continue to stand against it.”
