Third phase of operation against illegal Afghan migrants completed in Quetta
The operation to evict illegally settled Afghan migrants from Quetta and surrounding areas is in its final stages, with the third phase now completed.
According to officials, over 200,000 Afghan nationals have been repatriated since the campaign began on September 1.
Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Mehrullah Badini, said that following the completion of the third phase, action would now be taken against those involved in preparing fake documents for undocumented migrants.
Meanwhile, several Afghan nationals have appealed to the government to ease restrictions and improve conditions at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, saying that raids on their homes have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.
They urged the prime minister and relevant authorities to facilitate their return process and address logistical hurdles.
With Afghan settlements in and around Quetta gradually being vacated, officials say it is essential to accelerate both the voluntary repatriation process and efforts to remove obstacles to ensure the government’s targets are achieved swiftly.
