25 terrorists killed, five soldiers martyred in Waziristan, Kurram operations: ISPR
Security forces thwarted infiltration attempts from Afghanistan and killed 25 terrorists during separate operations in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan and the Ghaki area of Kurram district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations foiled two major infiltration attempts by militants from across the Afghanistan border.
Among those killed were four suicide bombers, while five soldiers embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
The ISPR said that the movement of two large terrorist groups was observed on October 24 and 25 in the Spinwam and Ghaki areas as they attempted to infiltrate from Afghanistan into Pakistan.
Security forces effectively engaged the infiltrators, preventing their entry.
In Spinwam, 15 terrorists — including four suicide bombers — were killed, while 10 others were eliminated in an exchange of fire in the Ghaki area of Kurram, the statement added.
A large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the slain militants.
The martyred soldiers were identified as Havaldar Manzoor Hussain, Sepoy Nauman Ilyas Kayani, Sepoy Muhammad Adil, Sepoy Shah Jehan, and Sepoy Ali Asghar.
“The soldiers fought bravely and embraced martyrdom while defending the nation,” the ISPR said.
The statement noted that the infiltration attempt came as Pakistan and Afghanistan delegations were holding talks in Türkiye, raising questions about the intentions of the Afghan interim government.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Kabul administration to ensure effective border management and prevent the use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan.
The ISPR reaffirmed that security forces, under the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, are continuing counterterrorism operations with full determination and will not tolerate any foreign-sponsored militant activity.
“The sacrifices of our martyrs further strengthen the nation’s resolve,” the ISPR added.
“Security forces remain steadfast in safeguarding the country’s borders and ensuring lasting peace.”
